The New Hip Headed to PUMPSTOCK American Roots Fest June 6th

We are headed to PUMPSTOCK American Roots Festival in East Lansing Michigan Saturday, June 6th at 6:30pm.  The festival is held at Bailey Park, 300 Bailey Street, East Lansing MI 48823.  Bring a chair, rain location at the Bailey gym, same address.   Also appearing is Rachel and the Beatnik Playboys, Nathan Bell, STELLA!, and Hatchet Man and Frog.

Missy Raines at the Frist with Multimedia Artist Robbie Hunsinger in Kandinsky Inspired Installation

Time-based artist Robbie Lynn Hunsinger will debut “Blue-Yellow-Red,” a new installation based on Kandinsky’s approach to color. The piece will be on view in the museum’s Rechter Room from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and during and after a Nov. 20 performance featuring bluegrass bassist Missy Raines.

Here’s what can be revealed: Beams of light will create bands of teal, yellow and red on the floor and a multichannel video projection will be shown on the far wall of the room. The videos are real-time visuals of music composed and performed by Hunsinger. “It’s a very high-tech example of synesthesia,” she said.
