Here’s a little bit about it…

Reinvention?  Hardly.  Missy Raines’ compass has always been set to explore boundaries and push limits. It’s in her nature.
With this, Missy’s 1st all vocal album, “New Frontier” is a natural evolution that reflects the intimate and sometimes grueling process of expression. Of how the lines of one’s art and one’s life are often hopelessly tangled, blurred, and imperfect. Yet reminds us that simply by showing up we are rendered free and open, open to all that touches us.

Produced by Missy Raines, Ethan Ballinger, and Ben Surratt, this is a collaborative work which features The New Hip, Ethan Ballinger, Jarrod Walker and Josh Fox throughout. Sam Bush guests on mandolin, slide mandolin and vocals on the appropriately rockin’ “What’s the Calling For” and Zach Bevill (the Farewell Drifters) sings with Missy on his own song “New Frontier” as well as on “Where You Found Me”, a haunting plea of a song co-written with Missy, to leave the past where it is.

“Boundlessness in Bloom”, by Duy Huynh, the cover painting, helps convey the theme of longing, hope, and a sense of freedom to pursue your dreams.

New Frontier will be released at a date TBA in 2013.

Saturday, March 30, 2013  We return to Natalie’s Coal Fired Pizza and Live Music in Worthington OH (Columbus area).   We have been looking forward to coming back to Natalie’s since the MINUTE we left there last fall.  The FOOD alone is worth the trip- but come and hang around for the music too!  Special guests, Paul Kovac and Jen Maurer, aka Boy=Girl will be joining us for a great evening.

Very excited to tell you that we will be doing ANOTHER show with the unstoppable and fabulous BALSAM RANGE- at the Grey Eagle in Asheville NC on Thursday, March 21st.   Get your tickets now for this show, (the last one we did together Sold Out….)

The New Hip’s Saturday, Feb 2nd’s show with Balsam Range at the Colonial Theater in Canton NC is sold out.  Stay tuned for another opportunity to see these 2 great bands live together in the region-  another show has already been booked!!

We’ve also got shows at the Red Clay Theater, (Eddie Owen Presents!) on Friday, Feb 1,  and then we’ll head to the  Colonial Theatre in Canton, NC on Feb 2 for a co-bill with one of my favorite bands, Balsam Range.  We’re part of the Balsam Range Winter Concert Series.

After that it’s on to California, Texas and back to the Southeast- so stay tuned and check back often…
